We are thrilled to express our deepest gratitude to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation for awarding us a $10,000 grant to support our efforts in combating childhood hunger in our region.
The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families across the United States by providing the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness at the local level.
Similarly, the Fieldstone Foundation is dedicated to creating a united and thriving community that prioritizes addressing the social determinants of health and well-being, with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our most valuable resource – our children. One of our most heartfelt commitments is eliminating childhood hunger in our region.
The grant they generously awarded to the Fieldstone Foundation will directly support the Backpack Program. Here’s why the Backpack Program is so essential:
- Its sole focus is the elimination of childhood hunger in our region.
- The outcome is improved nutrition for children, which promotes education success.
- Healthy food gives children the energy needed to engage, focus and grow – and just be a kid!
This charitable initiative relies on the support of a dedicated group of volunteers, local businesses, and restaurants, as well as larger corporate sponsorships to sustain its operations. Despite the increasing cost of food and other expenses, the Fieldstone Foundation remains committed to meeting the needs of our community, which have grown significantly in recent times.
Childhood hunger is a serious issue affecting too many families in our area, and we believe that no child should ever have to go hungry. The program works by discreetly providing eligible children with nutritious food items before they leave school for the weekend. Thanks to this generous grant, we are able to sustain the program at a time when costs have significantly increased. Ultimately, it is grants such as this that will allow us to expand the program and reach more children in need.
