The Fieldstone Foundation is proud to announce a $5,000 grant to Homeward Bound Adirondacks, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans through peer connection, compassionate care and access to critical services. This contribution will help advance plans for a new veterans retreat in Malone—offering a peaceful, nature-based space for healing, reflection and community.

The grant was formally presented during Citizen Advocates’ 50th Anniversary Celebration, held on September 11, 2025. The evening honored both the legacy of service within Citizen Advocates and the ongoing commitment of community partners like Homeward Bound Adirondacks.

“On a day our nation paused to remember service and sacrifice, it felt especially fitting to recognize an organization that shares our values,” said Felix Tam, Board Chair of the Fieldstone Foundation, during the check presentation. “Homeward Bound Adirondacks is a lifeline for veterans across our region, and this new retreat will bring hope even closer to home. Like Citizen Advocates did 50 years ago, they are stepping forward to meet a need, grounded in compassion, purpose and strength.”

Homeward Bound has long offered therapeutic retreats throughout the Adirondacks, but until recently, relied on temporary or leased locations. The planned retreat will be built on over 100 acres of natural landscape in Malone and will serve as a dedicated sanctuary for veterans facing post-service challenges, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other invisible wounds. The property includes three ponds, scenic trails and old logging roads—an ideal natural setting to support healing, mindfulness and reconnection.

“We are honored to support this important next step in Homeward Bound’s work,” said Amanda Tagliarino, Senior Director of the Fieldstone Foundation. “This grant reflects a shared belief in resilience, recovery and the power of community.”

The Fieldstone Foundation, established as the charitable arm of Citizen Advocates and its affiliates, is committed to addressing the social drivers of health through community investment. From childhood hunger to housing insecurity to veteran wellness, the Foundation supports programs that meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward a brighter future.
