Free Summer Meals Available to Northern Franklin County Youth

Nutritious breakfasts and lunches will be available this summer through the Fieldstone Foundation Summer Food Service Program, ensuring local children have access to healthy meals during the break from school.

Youth throughout Northern Franklin County can receive free breakfast and lunch at multiple locations beginning Monday, July 7. The program anticipates serving nearly 25,000 meals this summer at recreation parks, schools and community centers in Brushton, Chateaugay, Constable, Malone, North Bangor, St. Regis Falls and West Bangor.

Supported by USDA funding and administered through the New York State Education Department, the Summer Food Service Program is sponsored locally by the Fieldstone Foundation. All children and teens 18 years of age or younger qualify for the program, and all meals are completely free.

“When school doors close for summer, we make sure the door to nutrition stays wide open,” said Amanda Tagliarino, Senior Director of the Fieldstone Foundation. “This program represents our unwavering commitment to ensuring every child in Franklin County has reliable access to the healthy meals they need to thrive, regardless of the season.”

The seven-week initiative operates locally from July 7 through August 22, with specific operating schedules varying by location. Fresh meals are prepared daily by skilled kitchen staff and transported to distribution sites, where dedicated volunteers and staff members serve families. While menus vary throughout the program, typical breakfast offerings include milk, juice, cereal or baked goods, and lunch features sandwiches, wraps, beverages, healthy snacks, vegetables and fruit.

Meals must be eaten onsite. Dates and times vary by location—check your local site for further details. This year’s meal sites are:
