The Fieldstone Foundation is incredibly grateful to TruNorthern Federal Credit Union for their continued partnership and generous support of the Backpack Program through a meaningful $2,500 donation made in honor of retiring board member Dick LaVigne.
Dick recently retired after five years of dedicated service to TruNorthern’s Board of Directors. To honor his leadership, compassion, and commitment to the community, TruNorthern chose to celebrate Dick’s retirement by supporting a cause that reflects the kind of person he is and the values he championed throughout his time with the organization.
“This incredibly meaningful gift reflects the kind of community partnership that makes the Backpack Program possible,” said Amanda Tagliarino, Senior Director of the Fieldstone Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to TruNorthern Federal Credit Union for their continued support and to Dick LaVigne for his long-standing compassion and commitment to children and families in our community. Because of supporters like them, nearly 600 children will continue receiving nutritious food to take home each weekend.”
The Backpack Program quietly and compassionately works behind the scenes each week to help children experiencing food insecurity. Every Friday, children receive backpacks filled with nutritious, child-friendly food to help ensure they have enough to eat over the weekend when school meals are unavailable. Today, the program supports 580 children each week across nine schools in seven school districts.
Dick has been a long-time supporter of the Backpack Program and the children and families it serves. His continued encouragement, advocacy, and care for the well-being of others has helped strengthen this work and the impact it has throughout the community.
Partnerships like the one we share with TruNorthern are vital to sustaining and growing programs like this. Their support goes beyond financial contributions. It reflects a genuine commitment to helping children and families in our community feel supported, cared for, and hopeful.
We extend our sincere gratitude to TruNorthern Federal Credit Union and to Dick LaVigne for their generosity, partnership, and lasting commitment to making a difference in the lives of local children.
