Preparing Children for Winter with Essential Gear

As we prepared for winter in the North Country, the Fieldstone Foundation helped ensure local children had what they needed to face the colder months with confidence and comfort.

This winter, essential gear was provided to 27 children across the region, including coats, boots, snowpants, hats and gloves. In communities where winter can be long and unforgiving, access to proper winter clothing makes a meaningful difference in a child’s day-to-day experience.

“In the North Country, winter is a part of daily life, and having the right gear makes a real difference for children,” said Amanda Tagliarino, Senior Director of the Fieldstone Foundation. “When kids are warm and comfortable, they can focus on learning, playing and simply being kids. We’re proud to support families in a way that helps remove one more barrier during the winter months.”

Warm winter gear means more than staying warm. It allows children to wait for the bus comfortably on cold mornings, participate fully in recess and enjoy the simple moments of childhood that make winter special. Sledding, building snow forts and making snowmen are part of growing up, and every child deserves the opportunity to take part.

This impact reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting children and families when and where the need exists. By responding thoughtfully and with care, the Foundation works to remove barriers that affect a child’s well-being, confidence and sense of belonging.

We are proud of the difference this effort made for local children and grateful for the opportunity to help ensure they were prepared for winter in the North Country.
